Plastic Free Byron is a collaborative project of many individuals and organisations within the Byron Shire. We are all dedicated to reducing plastic waste that ends up in our oceans and our landfill through solution based information and actions.

We aim to inspire changes to the way we view, use and accumulate plastic in our lives and community. We would love to see a reduction in  plastic packaging, plastic straws, plastic lined coffee cups, useless plastic oddities, plastic bags and anything else made with plastic that ends up in landfill or the ocean.

This project started when in 2016 with Santos Organics initiating a shire wide Plastic Free July campaign. This campaign was supported by Clean Coast Collective, Bolsa Bags, Waste Free Futures, Ofa Moana Conservation, Byron Mermaids, Boomerang Bags Byron Bay & Patagonia. All these organisations took action and involved themselves in projects throughout July.

In August 2016 this group of organisations joined forces with Mullum Cares who had great success with an aligned project in Mullumbimby. With this formation, Plastic Free Byron as an official organisation was born.

Plastic Free Byron is a project of the not-for-profit charity Mullum S.E.E.D. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
